The isle of Cres and the isle of Krk are the largest islands of the Adriatic sea.

The town of Cres of the isle of Cres of the same name is the largest town of the island, and it is here that the main architectural sights of the city are found:
— three town gates — the remains of the city wall once encircling the town — the preserved entrance into the Old town of Cres;
— the building of the town council (16th century), today the Lapidarium museum, where you can see ancient Roman artifacts, and the Valun plate — the oldest monument of the Glagolic writing system;
— the Arsan-Patrice palace (15th century), the city museum with an exhibition of archaeological finds nowadays;
— a Franciscan and a Benedictine monastery, nowadays exhibition halls of old paintings
One of the most interesting sights of the isle of Cres — the town of Lubernice — is the first human settlement on the isle of Cres.
The town is located on a rock 400 m above sea level. In the central square of Lubernice regular concerts of classical music are organised, there is also St Antony’s church (15th century).
The town of Osor in the southern part of the lake is nowadays famous for the Festival of classical music that s held here. In Middle Ages, Osor was a large trading port of the Adriatic. Of the medieval monuments, the Bishop’s palace and the Cathedral (15th century) still remain in Osor.
The curiously bluffy shore, numerous secluded bays make island Cres attractive for yachtsmen. Near the town of Cres of the island there is a large pier for yachts.
The guests of the island are offered diving classes, sailing classes, fishing on the shore of the sea and Lake Vrana, there are bike and boat rental services, golf and volleyball courts, football pitches.
The lovers of diving can see the remains of the trading vessel Lina, which sank near the shores of Cres.

Vransko Lake
Among the natural landmarks of the isle of Cres is Lake Vrana / Vransko jezero. The lake is located in the centre of the island near the settlement of Vran, and it stuns with its unique natural beauty.
The large Lake Vrana is fresh, and is 70 m deep. Vransko Jezero is the place where numerous birds live — storks and wild ducks.

Get to island Cres
You can get to the isle of Cres to settlement Porozine using a regular ferry line from the town of Brestova (29 km from Opatija city; 58 km from Pula city) , which is located to 58 km from Pula city. The ferry road takes about 25 minutes.
