Lokvarka cave – 50km from Rijeka

Lolvarka cave was opened in 1912. The cave is located 50 km from Rijeka city.

Due to its outstanding beauty and diversity of decoration, Lokvarka cave was proclaimed a nature monument.

I’m 1935 an electricity and the descent constructions were installed in the cave. At this point, the cave has opened for tourists. It soon became one of the most visited attractions of Kvarner.

Today, Lokvarka is one of the biggest Croatian caves, opened for visitors.

Accompanied by a professional guide, visitors may see 4 galleries of the cave. Meanwhile, the undiscovered and not studied areas are still the objects of interest to many scientists and cavers.

A constant temperature in the cave varies between 6.5 °C and 8 °C.

Lokvarka cave

The cave is open to visitors:

  • on Wednesdays and Thursdays from 10:00 to 16:00, entry every hour
  • on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays from 9:00 to 17:00, entry at 10:00, 12:00, 14:00 and 16:00

Entrance ticket to the Lokvarka cave costs:

  • for individual visitors – 50 kn (app.6,5 euro)
  • for groups – 35 kn (app.4,60 euro)
