The Plitvice lakes national park is a dynamic system of 16 lakes connected by 92 waterfalls.
The total area of the lakes is about 2 sq.km., and of the national park it is 200 sq.km.
The КRКА national park is located in the South-European region, and thanks to its special geographic position, it is remarkable for its variety of flora and fauna.
The KRKA park is peculiar for its cascades and waterfalls: the Bilusica whirlpool (22,4 meters), the Corica or Brljan whirlpool (15,5 meters), the Manojlovacki waterfalls (a cascade of waterfalls 59,6 meters high with the main step 32 m high), Rosnjak (8,4 meters), the Miljacka waterfalls (23,8 meters), Roski (25,5 meters) and the Skradinski whirlpool (17 steps 45,7 meters high).
The park occupies the territory along the KRKA river, with the area of 111 sq. km.
Not far from Pula city — the touristic, economic and transport centre of Istria with many famous landmarks of Istria, one of which is the impressive ancient Roman amphitheatre — are the Brijuni isles, which can be reached by sailing across the Fazana channel.
Here, between Pula and Rovinj, on the area of only 7 sq.km. are 14 isles. Nature has created a real paradise here, which, at the turn of the 20th century, caught the attention of one of its owners Paul Kupelwieser.

Gorski Kotar is a mountainous region in the north of Croatia linking the continental and the coastal parts of Croatia.
Practically all of the area of the Gorski Kotar is covered in not very high mountains covered in trees. The highest peaks of Gorski Kotar are Bjelolasica (1534 m) and Veliki Risnjak (1528 m).
As long as its location is concerned Gorski Kotar is located between Slovenia. Lika region of Croatia, the Adriatic coast and the Pannonian plain of the continental part of Croatia.
